Pastor's Thoughts - May 2019
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
We celebrated a joyous Easter! Christ is Risen, Indeed! We heard the good news of the Risen Christ through the witness of the women at the tomb and the men who needed to see for themselves. The followers of Jesus were locked in a room and looked in fear. Then Christ was among them. He didn't judge the actions of Peter or any of the disciples. Instead, he came among them with the words "Peace be with you." Love, mercy and grace were the gifts of the Risen Christ to us all.
Easter Sunday was also a time of blessing for the Gaiser/Edwards family as Alise and Red's daughter, Lena was baptized. Each time there is a baptism, we as the congregation, participate in many ways:
1) We are the witness to the baptism, of one being washed clean of sin in the waters and emerging a reborn, a new child of God.
2)We confess our faith together.
3) We are reminded of our own baptism and its meaning in our journey of faith.
4) We are also reminded that all the baptized are brothers and sisters in Christ. ALL the baptized of the universal Church.
5) We take on the responsibility to care and nurture the baptized in their faith through prayer, worship, Scripture and teachings of living the life of a believer. All the more powerful is the message of resurrection and salvation on Easter when the Sacrament of baptism is included.
On Mother's Day, we will celebrate another celebration of the Risen Christ. May Christ's death and resurrection AND ascension be awe-inspiring, faith building and hope lifting. Remember the joy, mercy and love of Christ in the words "Peace be with you!"
In Christ,
Pastor Laurel

Finance Report: April 2019
Council met on April 17th, 2019
For the month of March, envelope Giving and PAR was $7208.36. Our Year-To-Date shows $-174.64. We are keeping our financial stewardship strong. Thank-you to everyone for their support.
On the expense side, our expenses for the month of March reached $9011.93. That was $193.74 over the budgeted amount. Year-To-Date on expenses shows a deficit of $246.95. Pretty nice shape overall.
The financial position will change over summer as we normally see a decline in attendance and we have some large expenses come during the summer.
Our piano project saw gifts received to the end of March reach $1380.00. As of the time of this writing, April 29th, The funds have reached $2585.00. We are $1615.00 away from our goal of $4200.00. Council thanks all whom are contributing to this project.
I have been in contact with Mark Cramer this past week and he is looking forward to refurbishing out piano. It looks like it will happen sometime in late June or early July.
