Council Meeting Minutes September 2019
September 18, 2019
Attendance:
Present: Pastor Laurel Seyfert; Heddy Mueller – Chair; Rick Norberg – Vice-Chair; Kathy Maxon –Secretary; Dorothy Raynor – Treasurer; Shelley Kretchman; Jerry Erickson; Wally Tetzlaff; Sharolyn Molnar; Don Wrobleski;

1. Call to order – 7:05 p.m.
2. Opening – Pastor Laurel spoke on Joy.
3. Agenda
Additions: 4. Convention assessment; 6. MNO Synod Cameroon Appeal
Motion to adopt the agenda: Tetzlaff/Kretchman. Carried.
4. Treasurer’s Report – Attached
a) Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report: Norberg/Wrobleski. Carried.
b) Convention Assessment – Dorothy will make payment; Numbers of baptized members will be reduced for next year as the registry was updated.
c) Motion to ratify expenditures of cheque #’s 3360-3367: Molnar/Tetzlaff. Carried.
d) EFT Canada (PAR) - EFT Canada requests an electronic version of the Constitution; a printed copy of the Constitution was provided and Dorothy will scan and email to them;
5. Minutes of August 21, 2019, Meeting
a) Motion to accept the Minutes: Norberg/Erickson. Carried.
6. Correspondence:
a) Email – Nichol Lupki – Discussed under Pastor’s report
b) MNO Synod re: Cameroon Appeal, which is requesting donations for the support for orphans.
7. Reports:
a) Parish Report:
i) Shelley reported that pianists are almost booked for October
ii) Driving Nardis, Jonas, and Anna to/from church – form needs to be printed and placed on the door
iii) Jerry may not get to Costco prior to Fall Supper; he will purchase gloves (size Med.) and small plates for pies from Superstore.
b) Mission Report:
Samaritan House –Grant application was denied; request for donations for this year’s project will be made during services; 4 grocery bags of donated items were delivered to the Food Bank.
c) Property & Finance Report:
i) Concrete Project – postponed possibly until 2020
ii) Window Project – completed
iii) Splash pads for eavestroughs –Rick to ask Gaiser’s about the cost of constructing concrete pads.
iv) North light is repaired; south light still to be repaired
d) Pastor’s Report: Reviewed as distributed.
i) Piano Recitals – Nichol Lupki requests the use of the church for two recitals during the year.
Motion to allow Nichol Lupki to hold two piano recitals, dates to be determined at a fee as per the Building Rental guidelines. Kretchman/Tetzlaff. Carried
e) Motion to accept the reports as printed and/or presented. Norberg/Tetzlaff. Carried.
8. Unfinished Business:
a) Fall Supper – no volunteer for Convenor so Council is the Convenors; Scouts asked to assist so Pastor will contact them re: delivering flyers in their neighbourhoods; Colleen Haugen, Heddy Mueller, and Sharron Bullard called for donations; Heddy is Advertisement Committee; Rick arranged the ham and buns; Arlene is arranging for 4 people to sell tickets; Rick will ask mike Pomfrey if he will call numbers; need a Floor Marshall in the basement; Set-up and juice making is Thursday, Sept. 26 at 1:00 p.m.; Sharolyn is purchasing items and will have them delivered Thursday; baked potatoes and scalloped potatoes this year; Pastor is contacting Coptics.
